Again things are relatively quiet this week. Only one new infected premises has been found since Monday. Three new infected premises have been found since 5/15. Employees of commercial farms are receiving biosecurity training in English and spanish before the farms are repopulated. Hot weather may assist in the control of the virus.

Please keep your biosecurity high. We might see this under control in two or three months.

All bird owners are requested to monitor their birds closely and report any unusual health problems to the Task Force at 800-491-1899. There is no charge for laboratory work when END is suspected. When birds must be depopulated the owners are fairly compensated based on the value of the birds. Bird owners are encouraged to protect the health of their birds by avoiding unnecessary contact with other birds.

Things have been quiet again this week. I believe that 2 small groups of birds were found positive. The case in southeastern Kern county near Mojave was linked to southern California and does not appear to be a new source of disease.

Please keep your biosecurity high. We might see this under control in two or three months.
