Washington bans importation of So California/Nevada birds (LINK)

WSDA prohibits moving birds from some California and Nevada counties into Washington

Effective Jan. 15, WSDA adopted a rule that prohibits moving all bird species from California and Nevada counties that have been placed under quarantine by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

In California, this includes: Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside, Imperial, Ventura, and Santa Barbara.

In Nevada, this includes portions of Nye County and all of Clark County, which includes Las Vegas.

In California, agriculture officials have battled the disease in backyard flocks since September. However, the virus has been has spread to several commercial egg-laying facilities. This week it was confirmed in a backyard flock in Las Vegas, Nevada.
