Dear California Cage Customer,

Recently, concern has risen about zinc toxicity and birds. Some attention has been 
mis-directed toward our powder-coated cages. Since we are too bird owners/lovers we 
take all input, both good and bad, seriously. 

California Cage Company has manufactured the highest quality wrought iron 
cages for 20 years. In fact, California Cage pioneered engineering and safety designs that 
put both bird safety and owner convenience first. During this time, tens of thousands of 
cages have been purchased for all types of birds. Never before have we had complaints of 
toxicity with these cages. Nonetheless, because we have had this unfortunate complaint 
with one customer about zinc levels in our cages, we have scrambled to collect 
information from vets and bird experts, along with our powder coat provider to insist that 
our cages are in fact safe high quality cages.

Zinc Facts:
1.	It is considered by Veterinarians that zinc levels below .50 parts 
per/million is safe.
2.	This zinc is encapsulated in a non-toxic epoxy compound, rendering is 
virtually non absorbable by the bird.
3.	A leading bird vitamin sold at pet stores nation wide lists zinc on its label 
at 345 milligrams per pound. Interestingly, this equals to about 800 parts 
per million—approximately 11 times higher than the amount encapsulated 
in our coatings.
4.	Other potential of zinc include: Bolts, nuts, screws quick links, chains, 
bird toys and water.
5.	Powder Coating is a far superior finish than other commercial chemical 
paints. It is used in food grade facilities world wide.
