Newcastle Disease in the United States of America

Follow-up report on the disease situation in California:

Information received on 7 Jul 2003 from Dr Peter Fernandez, Associate 
Administrator, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, United States 
Department of Agriculture (USDA), Washington, DC:

Date of previous report on Newcastle disease situation in California: 17 
Jan 2003

End of this report period: 7 Jul 2003.

No new positive premises have been detected in California since 31 May 
2003. Approximately 3.9 million birds were destroyed. Currently quarantined 
backyard flocks (infected and/or dangerous contacts) by county in 
California: Riverside (3) and San Bernardino (1).
