As you know, the remaining federal and state quarantine restrictions in California for exotic Newcastle disease were removed on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003; among the restrictions lifted was the statewide ban on poultry exhibits. The END Task Force has been replaced by the Avian Health and Mitigation Program, a core group who will be conducting outreach efforts on avian health, biosecurity, disease reporting and other issues in an effort to prevent the reintroduction of END and/or the quick detection of any future  disease introductions in California.

the State of California have been officially released.

 

 

Last Infected Commercial Premises Found in California:                     March 26, 2003

Last Infected Backyard Premises Found in California:                     May 31, 2003

Percentage of Total Quarantined Premises Released in California:            100%

Personnel Assigned:                                                                                  124 (total for California)

 

 

 

DETAILED REPORT

 

Officials with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), the Nevada, Arizona, and Texas Departments of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) conducted a campaign to control and eradicate END.  The disease was confirmed on October 1, 2002.  The final figures are as follows:
